Cheers.

You sure have been busy reading, Ian – do the posts tend to become monotonous? [I do have a tendency to drone on sometimes, try to rein myself in and then make the stories too short – can’t seem to find that medium area I want].

No, not monotonous gp, far from it, keep up your great work, I get behind in answering peoples comments and reading their posts, but I never delete their posts from my email, especially those who comment on my efforts as opposed to the Like clickers, keep it going mate, cheers.

I had no idea you could take a reblog and hold it until you were ready – how is that done? See – 2 1/2 yrs. blogging and I’m STILL a novice [or stupid]. 🙄

Military Appreciation Month, eh? I’m already working on my Memorial Day post, and I’ve got another one kicking around in my brain. Will look at the calendar – if I can’t manage the second one this month, I’ll stretch my appreciation into June (since I never ever stop appreciating!)
LikeLike
That wouldn’t be bad – 6 June – D-Day; then 21 June – Flag Day and 25 June – start of Korean War. You could create a year-long appreciation if you wanted to!!!

Thank you, I never quite know in a pictorial post, how much is too much and how few is too small? You’re the designer.

It sure wasn’t too much and just perfect. Thanks for the compliment but don’t feel like a designer per se since signal flags were already there own pattern.
LikeLike
Yeah – but did the Navy do as much with them?
LikeLike
Not too much other then signalling some messages.

Thank you for the reminder, gpcox, and the super collection of photos… And do I see artwork from priorhouse off to the side on Smitty??
LikeLike
Yes, you do. Doesn’t the caption credit show up for the readers? I can see it on my end.

Ahhh… but you have better eyes than I! I thought it said priorhouse but wasn’t sure. Nice!

Sometimes what the owner sees isn’t exactly the same as the reader – so I’m glad the caption is viewable, I needed to credit the designer.

Thank you very much for helping to keep the memory of veterans alive – without them – where might we be right now?

You’re welcome! Indeed, we owe all veterans a debt of gratitude which can never be fully repaid.

I saw a young man outside our grocery today in uniform collecting for the wounded. I think he was quite surprised when I asked to shake his hand. We owe them BIG.

I say every month should be military appreciation month. 😀 Never mind, that wouldn’t be fair to other professions. 🙂 But seriously, these heroes should always be appreciated. 😉

They should be, they are responsible for us waking up in our current free homeland along with the freedoms many other countries do not enjoy. Thank you for dropping by.

I think of family and friends who have served and those still serve, today.

That is the whole idea behind this month and why we have so many more days of appreciation than some other countries. Thanks for stopping in, Swabby.

Raising the flag at Iwo jima (hope that’s right) has to be the most iconic photo for me
LikeLike
The first raising is to me, but not the planned one. And the flag was raised with so much fighting left to do. I don’t mean to be a wet blanket here, the image and statue mean a lot to many people, I just think it should have been done when the island was secure. Thanks for commenting, feral – and for being so loyal to Pacific Paratrooper!

A bit of PR was, I think, important at that time, even if it was premature. The image is iconic even now. Nooo..Thank you for creating this body of work for others such as myself to enjoy and be educated by.

You are quite right about the timing and yes it is an iconic image! Thank you.
