Everett Smith served with the Headquarters Company, 187th Regiment, 11th A/B Division during WWII. This site is in tribute to my father, "Smitty." GP is a member of the 11th Airborne Association. Member # 4511 and extremely proud of that fact!

  25. Such a touching post. One of the nicest things I encountered in the past week was a local radio host, who’s on-air three hours in the morning and two in the evening, dedicating an hour in each show to show calls from people who wanted to honor the fallen in their families. They could call, give the name, rank, and service, and anything special that they thought should be noted. It was amazing how many people you can hear from in an hour — but it also was a good reminder of all those who won’t be so publically honored during this weekend.

  29. Thank you for sharing. One of my favorite features of our Civil Air Patrol banquets is when the host unit provides a live narration of the meaning of the table for one with cadets doing the presentation. It always brings a tear to my eyes.
