Hurricane Irma
THANK YOU !!!
Hello everyone. Hurricane Irma has said goodbye and I have only just had power restored. I greatly appreciate everyone’s concern and hopefully I will get caught up on each of your sites within a decent period of time. Poor Houston was hit far worse than we were. Have a great day!!
WE WERE PREPARED !!!

I was living in Sint Marteen when hurricane Irma hit.. it was my first hurricane and one that ended up being a cat 5. I can’t believe the resilience of those who make the islands and other parts of the world their homes with the threat of natural disasters.. it was an awful time trying to get off the island..
Cheers

You have something to relate to as we talk about the typhoons that hit the men in the Pacific – yet the still had to carry out their duties. Give you some respect for their stamina, eh?

Of course, and for the people who live in areas that are often battered by natural disasters. It’s incredible what people can do or go through, their perserverence and strength is admirable.

I’m glad to hear it, how long did you not have power?

4 days, but it’s long gone now, except the garbage men picking up the debris.

I’m guessing you were prepared for that inconvenience so I’m just glad everybody is alright.

You and me both. That’s the important part! Thank you for your concern.

So happy you held up to Irma’s wrath! These storms have been so powerful and destructive. Irma made me postpone my trip back south…and I happily changed the plans. I decided to stay in my home many years ago for Wilma…and swore I would never do it again!
Sending good thought of love and blessings to you 💜

Thank you. You can tell Florida has been through it before, the only ones surprised by the strength of a hurricane are the newcomers. We were prepared and [believe it or not] our government was too.

Very lucky here. Other parts of FL, not so much.

I’m finally going through my backlog of favorite site posts. I was down in Houston for several days piloting a crew doing photo assessments for FEMA. Between that and some other travel, I’ve been behind in following along with my blogging friends’ sites. I’m glad to hear things were not as bad as they could have been for you in Florida.

Thank you. South of us was hit harder, and the Keys will take a long time to heal, but on a whole, we did luck out!

Indeed, what I heard through the CAP grapevine is that the Keys were as hard hit as what we saw from the air in Texas.

Quite a bit is still piled up along the streets for trash pick-up, but all in all – we are fine. Thank you.

I hadn’t realised you were in the area. Hope things will continue to improve (America’s having truly awful times with fires on one side of the country and hurricanes and floods on the other.)

If only we could get all the water here to fall on the west coast fires, eh?! The rest of the world continues to have these disruptions as well with volcanoes and earthquakes, typhoons and sink holes. Mother Nature trying to get even for centuries of abuse to her planet?

Oh, my! So sorry. I have been out of the loop for a while and didn’t realize what you were going through! I know how hot Texas summers can get, too. glad you are getting things back to normal and all are safe!

That slight move westward helped us out greatly. We lost power for 4 days, but it sure could have been worse! Thank you for your concern.

Sorry it took so long for many of you to get power. We had it when we returned from Atlanta. Take care.

In this area we did not get hit as the islands or the Keys did – and it looks like the islands will be getting it again!!
