My heart goes out to all the military men and women and their families that are separated. Thanks once more for the fine tribute and articles Brad. My uncle fought in the Korean war, he enlisted at 15 with the help of his mother. May you have a happy and healthy New Year.

Too many like your father and their accomplishments are sometimes forgotten. Rest assured I do my best to cure that.
Our fellow blogger, Jacqui Murray is one such parent – neither her son or daughter were home for the holidays.
Thank you for visiting, Hollie, always a pleasure to see you!

Thank you so much for this post (well, of course, for all of them) and for reminding us, always, that we must never forget the men and women who have served, and continue to do so.
Health, happiness, and peace to you in the coming year!

I often think of my other grandfather at Christmas time. There was no turkey or roast beef. He had just been sent from the border of Germany and Holland to help fight in the Battle of the Bulge. I’ve read the history of that day and how the 2nd Armored Div stopped the front of the offensive in a town called Celles near the Meuse River. I can’t even begin to imagine…
Question….Each Christmas, I take my favorite photos and make a calendar for friends and family. I have a few remaining and if you would accept it and can use it, I’d be pleased to send you one. If not or you can’t use it I understand. Let me know and if you want one I can arrange to send it to you. Cheers

I would love to have it and feel quite flattered, but I’m afraid I can not send out my address for reasons too long and tedious to put here and bother you with. I thank you very much for thinking of me!!

I can certainly understand. I hope you had a great Christmas GP. We are due to finally get some snow and ice this week but hopefully it will be clear for New Years Eve.

It certainly has been unusual weather! The football game in El Paso was hard to see with all the snow. My plants that should be blooming by now haven’t even started – they think it’s still summer I guess. Have a safe and enjoyable New Years!! (Thank you for understanding!!)

So many have spent Christmas in terrible conditions so the rest of us could live in a safer place. But they seemed to be resourceful and make the best of a bad situation. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas holiday.

My was quiet and peaceful – so no complaints, Bev, thanks!

People in other countries don’t seem to want to fight for their country – they just look for hand-outs. The US and NATO can’t be everywhere.

All the very best to you GP for 2016. Great to see all the different ways our armed services found to celebrate Christmas; there were some inventive Christmas trees.
